New Nova Ornamental Turning Tool

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Ornamental turningNova, the Australian company know for their precision wood lathes and chucks, have just announced a new ornamental turning tool.

This is a highly specialist bit of wood turning kit - not for the beginner at a few cents short of $500 (and more if you buy the accessories).

Nova catalogueHowever, it will produce decorative woodturning effects like no other tool you will have seen so if that’s your area of expertise this could well be the tool for you.

Details and ordering info are available from their website at Teknatool.com, as is a downloadable copy of their latest catalogue.

At present I believe the ornamental turning attachment is only available direct although Woodcraft do stock some Nova chucks and accessories.

New Man in Canada for Lie-Nielsen

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

We all know Lie-Nielsons’ superb planes and other woodworking tools I’m sure. Watching them demonstrated is a pleasure and they run a number of demos throughout the year (you can check our shows and events page for the next ones).

As additional support they have now announced a dedicated representative for Canada.

Sean Walsh has over 20 years of woodworking experience - the last 5 as a professional furniture maker/designer - and so brings a wealth of knowledge with him. As you would expect you’ll be seeing Sean at all the major woodworking shows plus demo days and classes all over Canada.

A Great Deal on Quartz Clock Inserts & More…

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I like making clocks. At the basic level it’s easy to insert a clock mechanism or make something with a cheap quartz movement. At the other end of the scale you can make superb heirloom furniture. The possibilities are endless.

I also like Clockparts who always have excellent products and prices.

So I’m particularly happy at the moment because they’ve got lots of quartz clock movements, clock hands, insert clocks, you name it - at exceptional prices.

If you want to save money on your clock parts you’ll need to act fairly quick though. This series of offers is only available until the end of February. Click here for details.

25% Saving on Dust Fittings

Monday, February 18th, 2008

A whole range of durable and safe dust extraction fittings are now on offer over at Woodcraft. With the exception of the aluminum blast gates they’re all made of high quality ABS so they’ll stand up to the constant abrasion of high-flow wood particles.

All kind of straight, elbow, T and Y connectors are available plus hose, brackets, reduction fittings - you name it. Enough to put a whole workshop system together and all at 25% off.

To finish your system to a professional standard you might want to consider the high capacity Jet Dust Collector which, in addition to the powerful 1.5 hp motor, also has a remote control so you can turn it on and off from anywhere in the shop!

At the moment you can get a $25.00 mail in rebate on this model so for full details, head on over to Woodcraft.
